Movie of the Work Day: Red Dawn

"WOLVERINES!!"

This post is for my boy Scotty Lock-Nuts.

Today at work we rummaged through our treasure trove of DVD's and came across this classic. Much to my surprise many of co-workers have not seen this movie. Although the movie takes place in an alternate universe AKA the 1980s, this movie is awesome. I did some research on it before writing this post and apparently it was the most violent movie of its time. If that doesn't get you interested, ladies there's a little something for you in it too and that is none of than Mr. Dance himself, Patrick Swayze. This movie is a film every Red Blooded, Republican voting, gun toting person should see. I don't say that just because it was voted the 15th Most Conservative Film by National Review Online but because the remake will probably be no where as good. See this movie, waste sometime and feel like you know some insider secret whenever you scream "WOLVERINES!!!!!" at the top of your lungs while squeezing off a couple of rounds from you AK-47 at the attacking Russians or Chinese or whatever.

Movie of the Work Day: The Warriors

"This is what we fought all night to get back to?"

This movie actually took a few days to finish with all the interruptions of this thing called work. But in any case the movie I have been wanting to watch for a while. It was pretty good. I liked it. I know a couple video games have been made but haven't played any those. There are some classic scenes in this movie and some memorable characters. I do recommend this and hope to cover some more classic films in the future. Enjoy if you fee like killing some time.

Movie of the Work Day: Why We Fight Now

"Everyone on the team is a shooter"

Up until this point all the movies I have watched have been feature films. So the other day I decided to switch it up a bit. I decided to watch "Why We Fight Now". This movie is a documentary about the United States Army Special Forces. With the Global War on Terror getting its extended 15 minutes of fame the letters "SF" and words "Special Forces" are getting thrown around almost every minute. But very rarely do those special soldiers get a chance to talk about what its that they do and what they bring to the fight in the GWOT. I have seen the moive before at the Airborne & Special Forces Musuem (www.asomf.org) and thought I would take another look at it now that I'm a little closer to where these men are working. I highly recommend you check this film out. It's not hard to find. You can actually download it, for free too! Here's the main webpage too. Enjoy. I'm sure you'll learn something.

Movie of the Work Day: Biker Boyz

"Burn rubber not your soul"

Let me start off by saying compared to Torque, Biker Boyz should have been awarded an Oscar and probably several Academy Awards. Not saying much but a significant improvement over the highly green screened Torque. Biker Boyz, surprisingly had a story the first problem of Torque. Despite its corny spelling the movie wasn't that bad & it had Laurence Fishburne. So at least his lines were delivered well. Although there was a lot of motorcycles and scantly clad women that some how magically appear at the revving of engines the movie did have a legitimate story and an interesting soundtrack. Of course there were some hip/hop & rap songs but also some country and some other tunes. Interesting film. Could it have been better? Yes. Was it better than Torque? Mos Def. Best part of the film: Kid Rock plays a character called Dog. Classic. So if you're into real beyond green screen motorcycle racing & tricks check out this film. If not at least you'll kill sometime dreaming of what it could be like being the "King of Cali"

Movie of the Work Day: Torque

"I live my life a quarter mile at a time"
"That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Sometimes the worst movies can be the best movies given the right timing. This wasn't the worst movie I've seen. It was actually pretty funny. Mostly because it was made in the wake of the Fast and Furious movies (there's a 5th one being made by the way). Torque is a motorcycle movie. With all the Fast & Furious elements just on bikes. Yes the got the terrible acting and bad script in there too and of course what they couldn't actually do because it was 100% impossible in reality they green screened the life out of. I know, who does that these days?! But the movie was entertaining and it did a great job of showing what doesn't actually happen when you flip off your motorcylce at a buck fifty in downtown Los Angeles. Anyways wear your helemets kids and if you want to pass an hour of your life watching others not wear their helmets but wearing leather pants & jackets check out Torque, otherwise just watch Fast & Furios and imagine them being on bikes.
